Versace Man Eau Fraiche was created in 2006 by Olivier Cresp who is known for his crisp fragrances. Immediately the fragrance enjoyed a great popularity that has lasted until now. Eau Fraîche is used to identify a weaker and refreshing fragrance that only contains about 3% of aromatic compounds. However, make no mistake that Versace Man Eau Fraîche is actually an eau de toilette and therefore it should be stronger.
The fragrance is one of the most stylish and luxurious perfumes created under the Versace brand. It is a fragrance for a man who is confident and strong, who knows to enjoy life through luxury and love but keep an elegant and classic image. The model from the advertising campaign is Mike Gunther photographed by Michelangelo Di Battista.
Versace Man Eau Fraiche Qualities
It opens with bergamot and lemon as its first notes before revealing some powdery rosewood. You can feel a particularly intriguing scent of carambola which is appealing and tart rather than overly sweet. Very quickly dive into the heart where notes of crisp green apple follow up from the carambola. Soon we experience some tarragon herbs with sharp pepper for some refreshing aquatics. During this, a touch of calone emerges to provide a decidedly aquatic theme. As it dries down to the base, the green apple is phased out in what is more a melon scent. However, the most vivid notes are the powdery cedarwood as well as the aquatic notes of ambroxan. The base notes really help to bring out the character and sexiness of the fragrance.
- Top notes: lemon, bergamot, rosewood, and rose
- Heart: cedar, tarragon, sage, and pepper
- Base notes: amber, musk, saffron, and woody
The fragrance is a typical fresh, citrusy at first who has a bit too much lemon in the beginning. After about 20 minutes when it starts to settle, the lemon fades, and the fragrance starts to get a sweeter more pleasing. Versace Man Eau Fraiche is masculine but not overpowering, casual, far from being cheap.
It is perfect for spring, summer in shorts or jeans, after the gym or on the night out. In terms of strength, the sillage performs relatively well. However, the projection is weak given that these are quite light notes. Finally, the longevity is quite disappointing and provides less than four hours of scent.
The packaging is elegant with its turquoise color in crocodile skin print. The glass is clear blue with zig-zag details across the edges. On top is a metal plate, which houses the atomizer and an acrylic cap clips onto it.
It’s a great cologne for the man who is still young but wants to be taken seriously. If you want a much stronger scent, this may not be the one for you. But even then, the scent is just very unique, clean and fresh which smells pretty good and delivers the right thing.
