Dior Savage comes out in September 2015, advertised by actor Johnny Deep. It is available as 60 and 100 ml Eau de Toilette. The creator of this scent is Francois Demachy. The composition is carefully filled with selected and natural ingredients.
Savage evokes the feeling of savagery and freedom. It gives you a feeling of freshness you desire and it’s crushing your instinct. The composition is unique with a high concentration of the finest essences, which together create a refined and very masculine aroma. The intensity of the initial tones is given by wild bergamot who overwhelms you.
Dior Savage Qualities
This perfume is perhaps best described as a fragrance of contrast. In the opening, the overdose of fresh bergamot is surrounded by the fragrant and woody aromas of black and Sichuan peppers. The base notes are so strong that they create a vague aroma of metal and contradictory dirtiness. You should except at this portrait to project heavily for up to two hours.
In the transition, the citrusy bergamot becomes more discreet and gives more power to the metallic tones. It also allows the fragrance’s sweetness of ethyl maltol to become more apparent. This note of ethyl maltol, now mixed with cedarwood and the metallic scent of bergamot gives a dirty, young, metallic and playful feeling.
In the base, the powerful ambroxan is now liberated by the evaporation of the top notes and mixes with the mysterious Hivernal Neo to create a profound cold finish. Hivernal Neo is doesn’t smell like anything else you’ ‘ve ever smelled. The best way I can describe it is menthol but without the mint note. It just creates a cooling sensation, but without the smell. This feels like a city at night with cold wind streaming through skyscrapers.
The longevity is great, around 8 hours with over 2 hours plus of strong projection. Dior Savage is what I would describe a smell that brings you back the good and the bad memories. You love it and you hate it at the same time. The scent itself is a memory.
Suitable for all seasons but wearing it on the warm weather definitely helps to bring the ambroxan and sweet notes to life. I find that using it in winter is not easy for the people around you to smell it because of the cold.
The bottle is just simple. The cap is magnetic with the new Christian Dior logo that gives you a great feeling, anytime you look at it.
Dior Sauvage is a fresh, modern, versatile fragrance. Is something more for the summer heat and works well with people of a younger age. Do I like Sauvage? At first, no, I kinda disliked it. And not because it’s not especially unique, it just didn’t hit my fancy. However not everything has to be creative, or flashy, or luxury. Sauvage is a quality, discrete everyday scent with a seducing dark-organic twist and a nice evolution, smooth enough to appeal classic wearers. They played it safe, which I understand why is like a let down to many, but overall this is an excellent masculine fragrance.
