CK One by Calvin Klein is a citrus aromatic perfume that was launched in 1994. Alberto Morillas and Harry Fremont are the two famous names that have made stunning efforts to give birth to this impressive perfume. It was one of the first modern fragrances marketed to both men and women, but the company avoided the word “unisex”, preferring to call it a “shared” fragrance. It was targeted towards consumers in the 18-24 age range, and it was a massive success, doing $5 million in business in the first 10 days and continuing on to become the world’s top-selling fragrance in 1995. For those who are old enough to remember, the TV advert was shot in black and white, featuring various gorgeous young men and women.
CK One Calvin Klein Qualities
The top notes open with an exciting amalgam of exotic fruity pineapple, lemon, mandarin, and papaya. It manages to give the perfume a slightly masculine note. After a while, the opening moves right into the heart of the floral. The florals consist of violet, rose, jasmine, and lilies. Jasmine and lily of the valley stand out the most. I don’t get rose, but it is a strong nutmeg note that dominates once it shows up. The dry down is more along the masculine side with musk, wood, and amber.
- Top Notes: Pineapple, green notes, mandarin, orange, papaya, bergamot, cardamom, and lemon.
- Middle Notes: nutmeg, violet, orris, root, jasmine, lily of the valley, rose and freesia
- Base Notes: sandalwood, amber, musk, cedar, oakmoss, green tea and green accord.
If you want to pass a message that you are young, this perfume is the fragrance for you. After all, there are no rules written in stone that certain perfumes are for teenagers.
CK One is a sweet fragrance that can help you rediscover your young spirit. Maybe it doesn’t’s seem wildly original, distinctive, or even that interesting, but it does what clean citrus scents are supposed to do, to smell good in an unobtrusive way.
It is perfect for spring and summer, practically good for any occasion. None of the notes are too overpowering which makes this perfect for indoor wear. The office, gym, and school would be a great fit for this fragrance. The longevity is good, somewhere between 7-8 hours of life with moderate sillage. The bottle design suits the scent of the perfume.
This is not something that will make you stand out or will make a very big impression. You can’t express passion, emotion or seduction or a scent that makes you achieve something. It’s more of a safe and inoffensive scent. You need to be a lover of fresh, clean, citrus and aquatic scents, in order to fully appreciate CK One. I definitely recommend trying this one out, especially since it is inexpensive and easy to find.
